SmartCHANGE at Stronger Together 2026
24–26 September 2026
Portorož, Slovenia

From 24 to 26 September 2026, SmartCHANGE is joining the Stronger Together Congress in Portorož, Slovenia, represented by our partners from the University of Ljubljana (ULJ) and Amsterdam UMC (VUMC).

About the event

Held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, the Stronger Together Congress is a landmark joint event bringing together four leading European associations in paediatric, school, and adolescent health: EUSUHM, IAAH, SSSAM, and ZZP. The congress brings together experts from across Europe dedicated to supporting young people as they transition from childhood to adulthood, with a scientific programme spanning preventive medicine, mental health, chronic conditions, sports medicine, and much more.

SmartCHANGE at the event

SmartCHANGE is present at the congress through a dedicated exhibition booth and interactive workshops led by our partners from VUMC and ULJ.

ULJ's workshop, "From Standard Clinical Data to AI Insights: The SmartCHANGE Ecosystem for NCD Risk Prediction and Intervention", presented by Gregor Jurak and Marina Trkman from the University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Sport, takes place on Saturday, 26 September, 8:00–9:00 (CEST) in Hall 3 Mediteranea. The session takes a hands-on simulation approach, guiding participants through three evolving rounds of a comparative case study: starting from traditional clinical data, progressing to wearable-enriched behavioural insights, and finally unlocking the full AI-driven predictive capabilities of the SmartCHANGE platform. The workshop illustrates how next-generation digital tools can shift paediatric health promotion from reactive care to proactive, individualised NCD prevention.

VUMC's 90-minute workshop, "Stronger Together Through Engaging Health Professionals in AI-Based Risk Prediction for Youth", prepared by Dr. Teatske Altenburg, Claudia Dictus MSc, and Dr. Mariëtte Hoogsteder, is presented at the congress by Dr. Mariëtte Hoogsteder, takes place on Saturday 26 September, 14:00–15:30 (CEST) in Hall 4 Adria. The session brings together healthcare professionals to explore the SmartCHANGE digital ecosystem, including the HappyPlant app and the AI-based Clinical Decision Support tool, and discuss practical pathways for implementation across different European healthcare contexts. Using a World Café facilitation method, participants share practice-based insights on the acceptability of AI-driven tools and contribute to the formulation of concrete recommendations for real-world deployment.
