About the event

The 2025 Mobile and Learning Community Seminar, hosted by Liikkuva Koulu, a Finnish action programme dedicated to fostering a physically active culture in Finnish comprehensive schools, invites educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue about active learning environments.

This year, the event took place at the Jyväskylä Pavilion on April 1-2, 2025 and it hosted over 1,000 participants. The seminar is a collaborative initiative combining efforts from Mobile Early Childhood Education, Mobile School, and Mobile Study programmes.

Coinciding with the event, a national seminar on Physical Education was also held at the Pavilion, with selected sessions overlapping to encourage joint learning and collaboration. An evening party added to the event's dynamic atmosphere, offering networking opportunities and space to build professional connections.

SmartCHANGE at the event

The SmartCHANGE project was featured at the seminar, represented by JAMK University of Applied Sciences through an exhibition stand shared with five other JAMK-led projects.

SmartCHANGE showcased its international research initiative, emphasising how AI-driven models can be used to forecast the lifetime risk of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs) — especially cardiovascular and metabolic diseases — in children and youth. This demonstration highlighted the project's mission to empower healthier futures by integrating technology with preventive strategies.

Piritta Asunta, Chief Specialist, and Tuija Tammelin, Principal Researcher at JAMK, presented the project during the seminar, reinforcing its alignment with the broader goals of promoting active, healthy, and engaging environments for learning and development.

The Mobile and Learning Community Seminar once again confirmed its position as one of Finland’s leading events in the field of physical activity and education, offering valuable insights and sparking innovation across sectors.
